The Skagit Valley College Athletic Department has selected Kim Somerville, of Arlington, to serve as head coach for the men’s tennis and women’s tennis teams.  Originally from Toronto, Canada, coach Somerville brings 35 years of experience to SVC as a player and coach in the sport.  She is a Certified Teaching Pro and is a tennis instructor at Team Fitness in Stanwood.
“We are thrilled that Kim Somerville will be leading the Cardinal tennis teams,” said
Gary Knutzen, Athletic Director at SVC.  “Kim’s coaching experience along with her enthusiasm for the sport will be a win-win for our student athletes and those who follow Cardinal athletics.”
Coach Somerville has several players coming in from area high schools and is eager to meet more athletes to complete her team rosters.  Throughout the year, she plans to work with the SVC Booster Club to organize some fundraising activities and tennis clinics for people of any age who wish to improve their skills.
For more information about playing tennis at SVC, contact the SVC Athletic Department, (360) 416-7765.
